ICYMI, some DTC (ādirect-to-consumerā) brands have spotted Amazon ripping off their products. Amazon sells its own Allbirds knock-offs for ~$25 instead of ~$95 for the original shoes. For a while, Amazon also sold its own Peak Design knock-off for ~$33 instead of ~$150 for the original camera bag. Peak Design ran a clever ad campaign calling out Amazonās blatant copying. After angry consumers started leaving bad reviews referencing the ad, Amazon disabled reviews. The camera bag is currently unavailable on Amazon. Weāll probably keep hearing more of these types of stories unless anti-trust probes into Amazonās dual role as a marketplace operator and seller pan out.
